Bora Bora

Bora Bora, with a lagoon resembling an artist's palette of blues and greens, is love at first sight.

Honeymooners and romantics from around the world have laid claim to Bora Bora where the castle-like Mount Otemanu pierces the sky. Lush tropical slopes and valleys blossom with hibiscus, while palm-covered motu circle the lagoon like a delicate necklace. Perfect white-sand beaches give way to emerald waters where impossibly colored fish animate the coral gardens.

Simply said, Bora Bora is the most beautiful island in the world.

Truly, the most romantic island in the world. From the dramatic scenery to the privacy and amenities of the overwater bungalows, everything in Bora Bora equals a 10 on the romance scale.

Resorts have been welcoming couples for over 40 years and their special amenities have been fine tuned to perfection. From sunrise to sunset, each resort has designed their own blend of unique romantic experiences for their guests to choose from.

Overwater Bungalows - Unlike any other hotel room you've stayed in before, these traditional thatched-roof bungalows are perched above the turquoise lagoon waters. In many of the rooms, tropical fish swim below as you look through the glass floor or coffee table. With all the amenities of a first-class hotel room, here on your private balcony surrounded only by water and sky, you can enjoy both breakfast (often delivered by canoe) and the sunset (seemingly delivered by the heavens).

With many hotels in the luxury category, French Polynesia is often called an " expensive destination" … But alternative forms of lodging have been developed in the past ten years, which now make Polynesia affordable to all budgets: hotels of "grand tourisme" and "tourisme" categories, small family-owned hotels and pensions (guest houses) with the inhabitants, not to mention a few campground which, sometimes offer you to trade you tent for a small private fare (cabin) right on the beach for 60 or 70 Euros per night. An offer difficult to pass.

If you wish to best manage your budget, a solution consists in combining these various lodging options as you visit the islands: pensions or small family-owned hotels where you'll enjoy the legendary hospitality of the islanders and even, in many cases at a small extra cost, enjoy a private bungalow right on the beach. Somewhere else, choose Polynesian style hotels, often located inside exotic gardens, where you will be welcome in comfort in accordance to their category ranking.

And to finish on a high note: it is hard to resist (if only for one night if you're really tight) the delights of a luxury hotel offering you a bungalow with all the refined comfort and a staff particularly eager to please. Cuddled up in your voluptuous cocoon, near a turquoise color lagoon, Western comfort mixed with island lifestyle will quickly make you forget a few over budget extravagances. At least paradise will not have been lost for everybody…
